The House of Representatives has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, to ensure the blocking of all pornographic sites in the country with immediate effect.

This is as the House directed the commission to impose penalties on service providers that fail to comply with the directive.

Moving the motion that led to the passing of the resolution, a lawmaker from Katsina State, Dalhatu Tafoki argued that cyber pornography is becoming a global problem, warning that Nigeria has not taken adequate steps to address it.

According to him, Nigeria is a highly religious country where major faiths preach against and prohibit nudity and obscenity.

He cautioned about the negative impact of pornography, warning that it could lead to adultery, prostitution and addiction

Hmm, okay, so Nigeria is taking a stand against cyber pornography? That's definitely important. Nigeria's trying to keep people safe from something they shouldn't be exposed to too early in life. But, wow, isn't that also kind of freeing them from some harmful stuff too? I wonder how strict these measures are going to be and if they'll actually make a difference.

The implementation is the issue now and blocking loopholes that permit such activity in Nigeria.

Wow, Nigeria taking measures against porn? That’s interesting. I guess they’re worried about its impact on morals or maybe just want to control what’s available in the digital space. It’s probably a way to prevent something harmful but I’m not entirely sure how effective it’ll be.
