Baby Reindeer is the most uncomfortable thing I have watched in years and I have not stopped thinking about it since.

Richard Gadd wrote this from his own life. His own stalking. His own trauma. He then put himself on screen and lived it again for every episode. That takes a kind of courage that most writers never even approach.

Jessica Gunning as Martha is one of the greatest performances in recent television history. She made you feel her loneliness so completely that there were moments you forgot you were supposed to be afraid of her.

But what separates Baby Reindeer from every other stalker story is that it refuses to let the protagonist be a simple victim. Donny Dunn is complicated. He enables. He self-destructs. He makes choices that implicate him in his own suffering.

That is real life. And that is why it hits so hard.
