We were all seated outside, listening to tales by moonlight. Daddy was telling his usual stories of Aliens visiting our earth and how they would eat our brains out, feed on our power supply or eat everything metal. My little brother was clearly stricken with fear, fear which daddy fed on. But I was not afraid because I had heard these stories since I was a child, though Dad had patched up the stories here and there with latest trends he had discovered or heard about them. I was smiling looking at Declan, he was truly afraid and he was going to cuddle me throughout the night and have phantasms or dreams of being attacked by aliens. Dad had done same to me as a child but being a teenager now, I am inclined to know better.Dad was still speaking and demonstrating when we heard a loud crash and then after some minutes a roar that sounded like machines beeping with a thunderous high-pitch.Declan ran into Dad’s arms and was crying. Dad hugged him and gave him to me to carry. I asked “Dad, where are you going to?”“I’m coming, take your brother inside and lock the door after you”, dad said. “No dad, I can’t leave you here alone”“Get inside” Dad bellowed.I rushed inside with Declan and shut the doors and windows and everything shutable. I watched Dad disappear into the forest towards the sound we had heard. I was out of clues, didn’t know what to do.           After some minutes, I heard someone scream. It must be Daddy! I wanted to rush outside but Declan followed suit. I pushed him back and explained that he had to stay indoors but he wouldn’t hear of it. I carried him and we ventured into the forest.Wolves were wailing like they had lost their courage. Birds were flying away; a kangaroo with a child in his pouch ran past us, unafraid, obviously we were a lesser problem compared to that which had made it flee her home. The forest was in a chaos. Everything alive was fleeing, many a time we had to hide in the thickets of bush to escape from the eyes of preying animals. We finally arrived at the epicenter of the chaos. What I saw shook my bone marrows and my stomach lurched and grounded with fear.
