OUR TRADITIONAL DRESSES

Traditionally we're all unique and stylish when ever we are proudly dress up on our tradition attire. These beautiful attires distinct us from others and none indigenous people. Remembering that our forebears lives in their convince ranging from food, sports, health care, dressing, working equipment , housing, transportation, worshipping, customs, etc.

These traditions and customs continues to maintained, sustained and passed through ages even until this day and since its passes down, there's virtually things we should effectively do to sustain, get it right and probably promote and help maintain it originality.

Our rich tradition originality should be showcase locally and internationally as a literary sources for all time enlightenment and encouragement to our younger generation, especially when it concerns dressing and language arising from the westernised culture that have taken over our modern world.

Indigenously , in Ibibio tradition, the wrapper is tide on the left hand side while the Annangs tide on the right hand side. This unique tiding of wrappers carries much significance especially to the Annangs whose are traditionally symbolise by carrying their of matchet (knife) which is believed to occupied or tide on their right hand side, while the wrapper was tide to the lift side. This uniqueness is clear identity of an Annang man, an all time hero of jungle especially the title ones (Ete, Obong Ikpaisong, Obongawo, Awouko, Ekpeowo,Ekpondok) .

Hey, "Awo Annang ade awo uko " , this is long term distinctive identity for these unique people, the courageous and bravery attitude of every Annang person whether men or women are inborn and formal, so are their excellent moral skills.
They stand out strong among other enthnic
grouping and brothers locally in their approaches to tidings the traditional wrappers.

Naturally, the Annangs and their Ibibios brothers are differ slightly in the side the wrapper are tide, as on which side of the hands the wrappers hook to their wrist, and the headgear.

While the Ibibios tide on theirs left hand side with their long caps on their head, the Annangs tide theirs on the right hand side, matchet on the left, wearing a woven traditional round caps with colours, long tip falling aside to on their shoulders, the Oros also differ in wearing their woven traditional caps always red colour with long tip falling inside to their shoulders, similar to the Annangs on their head.

Akwa ibom state with its uniqueness, women also have their differences especially the Uruan women whose dress close to our Efiks attire with their long hair dressing up to march with the long traditional walking stick.
