AFRICA'S SEEDS

Africa is imprisoned,
The great mother restrained.
Forced to speak in the mind of a foreigner,
Her own offspring mislead.
The conqueror divided,
What plunder he obtained,
Pinned to the ground with foreign flags,
She looked on with disdain.
Africa's home is ruined,
Her hut burnt down,
She watched her very own,
Steal and rob and sold her soul.
She cried to the wind and gave her all,
While her sons sold brothers in war,
Africa stood at the shore and wept,
To see her seeds carted off in ships.
Africa's seeds are young and sprouting
A new generation she hoped,
Beating drums of hope and peace
And with their feet stomping the colonial weed.
Africa's young is spirited and free,
It's voice echoes across the seas
Dragging along the ancient ships.
"All set sail for Mother's throve,
The rocky plains where we had grown.
From the coasts to the dunes,
Setting ablaze a trail of grace.
A new tongue they speak,
Mighty and full of speed.
Breaking her bonds,
her cage shattered
she is raised up.
Africa sees the light,
Her ravaged hut, a new delight.
Africa breathes a new breath,
A greater strength her young bears.
