"Experience they said is the best teacher." My first time in the beautiful city of Bauchi State which is located in the northeastern part of Nigeria. The tales of it true as it rich with cultural heritage and natural attraction. I tell you, it is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to explore the beauty of the Nigerian heritage.
My visit to Bauchi was mesmerizing, I was intrigued by the stunning landscape and historical sites that depicts the state. I heard a lot about Bauchi growing up as a child especially, the Yankari Natural park, it was my first place to visit because of its vast wildlife and natural springs. it was a mine blowing experience to see elephants, Lions, giraffe and various birds species in their natural habitat for the first time.
Who would visit Bauchi without visiting the famous Gubi lake, which is not only a scenic spot but also a perfect location for a picnic or a boat ride. The Serene environment and the clear blue water left me feeling refreshed and relaxed like the description of paradise.
Bauchi is a home of several historical site that showcase the rich history and culture of the region. I also visited the Gwaram Ruins. For the first time, I learnt about the ancient city that existed in Bauchi centuries ago. I thought it was a myth until I saw it for myself. The ruins were a testament to the greatness of the past and offered a glimpse into the lives of the people who once inhabit the place.
Since I was a child, I often heard people talked about the Emirs and their dressing, so it was an opportunity to visit the Emir's palace. The palace was nothing short of it description and it has a marvel of architecture and design, and it was fascinating to learn about the customs and traditions of the Emirates.
Bauchi is known for its vibrant local markets. I took the opportunity to explored the Wurro and Yelewata markets, where locals sell a variety of goods, including traditional crafts, textile and fresh produce. The market was bustling with activities and it was a great place to interact with the friendly local people.
The food is nothing short of tasty as its a highlight of my visit. I indulged in delicious local dishes such as suya, kilishi and dambu nama. The flavour were unique and tantalizing and I savoured every bite.
Finally, my visit to Bauchi was an unforgettable experience. The natural beauty, serene, rich history and the warm hospitality of the people made it a truly remarkable destination to visit.
