A Nigerian Woman by the name Busola AD, living in the Uk has shared her experience starting life all over again at 30.

Here's her story

Life is a series of unexpected twists and turns, often leading us down paths we never anticipated. As we draw up plans and set goals, it’s easy to become fixated on how we want our future to unfold. In 2023, I found myself in this exact situation, planning to remain in the UK, move to a bigger city, start a new job, and achieve a balanced life. However, life had other plans for me.

The Year of Unplanned Changes

Early in the year, while living in the UK, I envisioned my future there. But midway through 2023, I faced an unexpected challenge: visa issues forced me to return to Nigeria. This experience was both devastating and relieving. I was saddened by the abrupt change, yet comforted by the prospect of returning to familiar faces and culture.

Returning to Nigeria meant making new plans. I aimed to focus on content creation, start a business, and build a new life. But just six months later, life threw another curveball, and I found myself returning to the UK to start anew.

Lessons Learned from Uncertainty

This rollercoaster year taught me valuable lessons about flexibility and resilience. I realized the importance of not obsessing over rigid plans and instead embracing life’s unpredictability. Often, we expect life to proceed without obstacles, but this is far from reality. Real life is messy, filled with order and chaos, much like a movie with its highs and lows.

Obsessing over things beyond our control only robs us of happiness. Instead, we should take leaps of faith and allow ourselves to get uncomfortable in new spaces. This approach not only opens doors to unexpected opportunities but also helps us grow and adapt.

Embracing the Journey

One thing I don’t want for my future is to look back with regret, wondering what might have been if I hadn’t pursued my dreams. It’s essential to appreciate the journey as much as the destination. Life isn’t just about reaching goals but also about enjoying every step along the way.

As we navigate our own journeys, it’s crucial to remain open to change and embrace uncertainties without romanticizing them. Take risks, explore new possibilities, and remember that every experience, good or bad, contributes to our growth.

In sharing my story, I hope to inspire others to embrace life’s uncertainties and appreciate the journey as much as the destination. Life is unpredictable, and while plans are essential, being open to change is equally important. Let’s discuss how we can balance planning and flexibility in our lives. What are your thoughts on dealing with life’s unpredictability? How do you ensure you enjoy the journey as much as the destination? Share your experiences and insights, and let’s inspire each other on this journey of life.
