A Silenced cry

"A Silenced Cry"
A nation's voice, once loud and clear
Now trembles with doubt and fear
A president's words, a threatening tone
Stifling dissent, leaving none to atone
The right to protest, a constitutional claim
But fear of reprisal, a chilling game
Lekki's memories, a haunting past
A warning unspoken, yet forever to last
But still we yearn, for freedom's call
To speak truth to power, to stand tall
Though voices shake, and hearts may quake
The spirit of resistance, for justice' sake
In whispers, we share our discontent
In shadows, our hopes and dreams are bent
But embers glow, of a fire so bright
A torch of courage, in the dark of night
Guiding us forward, through the darkest hour
Illuminating the path, to freedom's power
A symbol of hope, in a world gone cold
A flame that flickers, yet never grows old
One day, the silence will break
The voices will rise, for freedom's sake
Until then, we'll hold on to our right
To protest, to speak, to shine a light
And though the darkness may try to prevail
Our torch of courage, will never fail
For in its warmth, we find the strength to carry on
And fight for a brighter dawn.
