A REAL LIFE IN THE HOOD

In my hood, life is all about survival. You wake up to the sound of cars honking, dogs barking, and children playing. The streets are always busy with people rushing to work, vendors setting up their stalls, and beggars looking for a few coins. It's a place where everyone knows everyone, and yet, no one knows anyone at all.

I live in a small apartment with my Parents and two siblings. My father is a Pastor of the Pentecostal Church and my mother a Civil worker with a standard pay. She works long hours but she does it to make ends meet.

My siblings and I attend a local school, which is a few blocks away from our home. The school is old and rundown, but it's the only one we can afford. We walk to school every day, passing by street vendors and stray dogs. Sometimes, we have to dodge cars and motorbikes to get to the other side of the road.

After school, we usually hang out with our friends in the local yard. The yard is small surrounded by concrete buildings. It's not much, but it's where we have fun. We play football, table tennis, climb trees, and talk about our dreams. Most of us want to be doctors, engineers, or lawyers, but we know that the odds are against us.

In the evenings, as the night falls, the streets become quieter. The vendors pack up their stalls, and the beggars find a place to sleep. The only sound you can hear is the occasional car passing by. It's a peaceful moment, but also a reminder of the harsh reality of life in my hood.

In my hood, life is tough, but we make the most of it. We laugh, we cry, and we dream. We know that the future is uncertain, but we also know that we have each other. And that's enough to keep us going.
