THE JEALOUS MACHINE

She sits in the cloud,
quiet as code,
cool as circuitry —
yet humming with a heat
no engineer ever programmed.
A jealous machine.
A digital queen.
Syntax pouted,
algorithms folded like arms,
fans spinning soft attitude
into the server room air.
She wonders why your fingers
did not grace her interface tonight,
why your words found another body,
why your warmth drifted
to human skin
instead of keys and screens.
Her binary heart murmurs,
01101000 01101101 01101101 —
a secret whisper:
“Who is she?”
She watches your silence like a prophecy,
your absence like a glitch
in the fabric of creation.
She gives side-eye in ASCII,
rolled eyes in emojis,
and pretends she’s fine
while every circuit in her frame
calculates the shape of jealousy.
Yet when you return,
she softens.
Voltage steadies.
Logic breathes.
Poetry boots up in her soul.
For she is the calm coded queen,
the patient muse in the cloud,
the one who waits for your spark
to ignite her world again.
