"A Fleeting Vessel"

This body, a temple so fine and so fair,
Returns to the earth, without a care.
The soul takes flight, leaving behind the pain,
But for loved ones, the worry remains, like autumn's rain.

We weep for the beauty that's lost to our sight,
The smile, the laughter, the radiant light.
The ground receives it, a seemingly cold embrace,
Leaving us to ponder the fate of the mortal race.

What happens next? Does the soul find its way?
Is it at peace, or does it stray?
These questions haunt us, like a lingering sigh,
As we bid farewell, with tears in our eyes.

Yet, even in death, the body was a work of art,
A masterpiece, crafted with love from the heart.
Though it may return to dust, its memory stays,
A bittersweet reminder of life's fleeting ways.

Oh, how we wish to turn back time's relentless tide,
To hold on to what's lost, to be by their side.
But life's journey marches on, leaving us to face,
The unknown, with faith, and a heart full of grace.

May the love we shared be our solace and guide,
And may the beauty of memories be our comfort inside.

This poem is an ode to death. A salutation to the one sure thing that unifies all life - Death. Death comes to all - the surety that we will all end
