A security guard at my local bank. He stands at that door six days a week. Nobody knows his name. Nobody asks about his family. He opens the door and says good morning and that is the entire relationship.
I asked if I could draw him. He laughed and said nobody has ever asked me to be in a picture before.
His name is Emmanuel. He has three daughters. The youngest wants to be a pilot.
Charcoal and graphite on paper. 18 x 24. Every line in his face is a day he showed up for a job that most people do not notice exists.

This hit me hard. I had a security guard at my old office building named Frank, took me like 3 months to even learn his name and I still feel bad about it. The way you captured his face says everything - all those years of just being there for people who walk right past. Hope that little girl becomes a pilot, man.
