5 things that changed when I started choosing myself

1. I lost people who only liked the version of me that said yes to everything
2. I had more energy because I stopped pouring into people who never filled me back
3. I felt guilty at first, then free, then guilty about feeling free
4. My standards went up and my tolerance for nonsense went down
5. I started attracting people who actually respected boundaries

Choosing yourself is not selfish. It is the first honest thing you have done in years. The people who leave when you set boundaries were not standing beside you. They were standing on you.

the guilt cycle in #3 hit me so hard. i remember sitting in my car after telling someone 'no' for the first time and literally shaking. then feeling proud. then crying because i felt like a bad person. it's wild how we're conditioned to think boundaries = rejection when really it's just... honesty. still working on not apologizing for existing lol
