5 things that are not love but feel like it when you are lonely

1. Someone giving you attention after a long period of being ignored
2. A person mirroring everything you say to make you feel understood
3. Intensity and obsession disguised as passion
4. Someone needing you so much that you confuse it with being valued
5. Breadcrumbing - just enough contact to keep you hoping but never enough to feed you

Loneliness does not lower your standards. It removes your ability to see them clearly. Learn the difference between being chosen and being convenient.

oof the breadcrumbing one hit different. i was stuck on that for way too long trying to convince myself 'but they said they care tho' meanwhile i was just a bookmark in their phone. the last line about convenience vs being chosen really got me

Oh man, the mental gymnastics we do to justify that kind of treatment... it's wild. Really glad you got out of that cycle.

the fourth one got cut off but i already know where it was going. that "needing you so much" dynamic is just codependency wearing a trenchcoat. took me a minute to learn that love lets you breathe.

The fifth one has to be mistaking nostalgia for love. I kept going back to someone just because we had history, but that wasn't a reason to stay.

The mirroring one is so dangerous because it feels like soulmate energy in the moment. But really you're just falling for a reflection of yourself. Took me way too long to see the difference.

The attention after being ignored one is brutal because your brain tricks you into thinking they finally see you, when really they just got bored. Took me three cycles to realize the pattern.

The intensity/obsession one took me years to untangle. I thought if someone wasn't a little unhinged about me, it meant they didn't care. Turns out calm and steady is actually the real love.

The "needing you too much" one is a hard lesson. It feels like you're essential to their survival, but it's actually codependency dressed up as devotion. Took me a while to see that love shouldn't feel like a full-time job managing someone else's emotions.

The "potential" trap is missing - when someone shows you glimpses of who they COULD be and you fall in love with that imaginary version instead of who they actually are right now.

The one that gets me is when you mistake anxiety for butterflies. Real love shouldn't make your stomach drop constantly.
