Potiskum, Yobe State – Development in Potiskum Local Government Area is being driven by a unique partnership that has spanned more than three decades.
Governor Mai Mala Buni and Hon. Salisu Muktari, the Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA, share a 34-year bond of trust and loyalty that residents say is now translating into visible progress on the ground.
Unlike political alliances that often fade, the relationship between the two leaders has matured into a platform for delivering projects that directly impact lives. Community members describe the collaboration as “trust in action” and point to ongoing initiatives as evidence.
Among the flagship projects is the Skills Acquisition Centre, providing youths with vocational training to secure sustainable livelihoods. Alongside this, the Women Vocational Centre is empowering thousands of women to contribute to household incomes and strengthen the local economy.
Potiskum is also experiencing a commercial revival through the construction of the modern market, set to reposition the town as a trading hub. Similarly, the development of Africa’s largest trailer park is cementing Potiskum’s place as a logistics powerhouse in Northern Nigeria.
Equally symbolic is the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Potiskum LGA Government Lodge, a once dilapidated structure now restored as a proud centre of governance.
“These projects are not just infrastructure but symbols of a leadership built on sincerity and mutual understanding,” a resident remarked.
As residents commend these achievements, many see the Buni–Muktari partnership as a model of governance—showing how friendship and trust can drive transformation.
