TRUE LIES
He didn't strike me as a gentleman at first. So this is nothing 'love at first sight' related. I was however touched when he waved me over and asked the tricycle rider who had brought him home to take me where I was off to. Right there, I knew definitely a pen was just beginning a new page.
'Off to market?' Yes I am.
'But you're late, it's about 5pm.' Yeah, I'll be quick.
'OK. I won't take more of your limited time. I'm right in this gated compound, let me know when you're back, and, ...and, that food, I'll eat.
The rider had just started his engine when...'wait wait!' He doubled steps and turned the key off.
"What's your name? I almost missed it."
I'm Seyram.
'Wow! You're ewe too? Go and come!
I smiled without a word and we rode off.
The fifteen minutes ride to the market didn't see to the conclusion of my time budget in the market.
"The unusual inches above six feet height in a well fit fleshed body, the Afro confusion of his hair, his clean sharp edged beard, the firm yet relaxed broad chest in that sea blue T-shirt, his teeth, oh his smile, and that pinch of smartness behind it all. Mm... he's almost got dimples. I wondered how his eyes sparkled so bright because they were beyond brown, almost red."
Yeah, Afro confusion I called his hair, it was kept but not combed, it wasn't raster too. It was neatly rough and nearly spelled him out.
This replayed, I can't guess how many times in fifteen minutes, when we arrived at the market car park. So much details picked in less than two minutes, huh. Well, I brushed it off and hurried on to the market.
"Madam, madam!" It was the rider, waving me safe return, but this was an incoming call. As the sight of him reminded me of my sins. So I prayed; Oh, lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil; for I'm only human.
Without public considerations, i sang, "I'm only human" all the way back home in the tricycle, with my fellow Ghanaians looking on. I have never had to exercise my freedom to sing rights in such manner, but it was urgent to make peace with my Father.
