Last year, I set goals to achieve for the new year.
I put myself under a lot of pressure to achieve these set goals. I didn't take into consideration other aspects of my life and also I didn't consider that this brain and body needed rest.
While most of the things I wrote down were things I enjoyed, the pressure of meeting my goals made them feel like chores to me and I lost the fun in them.
For example, I enjoy writing, but having the goal of writing 500 posts this year made writing feel like a chore. Even when I didn't have anything interesting to write about, I forced myself to write.
And there's something about not reaching the goal you set for yourself. It makes you feel like you've failed
So for the next year, I have decided to take a different route.
While I would want to write down things I intend to achieve, I would take it easy on myself and cut myself some slack.
I would put into consideration that I have two wonderful boys who need a mother, and a man who needs his wife.
So instead of aiming for 500 posts, I'd aim for a more realistic number like say 150 or 200. That way, even if I post once in 2 days, I would still be able to reach my goal.
Will you be setting goals to achieve for the next year?
Is there anything you'd love to do differently in 2024?
