Chronicles of A Black Girl
I am that black girl,
Trapped in the mentality of the society
You are expected to do just as society says.
A life you don't get to choose what comes to you,
Society does that for you.
So I wondered if I could ask,
Dear Society what is my offense?
Why do I have to live just so people won't talk?
Why do I have to do what society won't blame me for?
Dear society, what do you know about me?
I come from a society that cares less,
Where you have to put the society
At the first before your decision.
I come from a delusional vicinity called society
Where the crumbs do not agree with the bakery.
Just a little doubt is all you need
The society that leaves you questions,
But you won't find the answers to your inquisitions
Dear Society, Do we continue like this?
In my society, Women are subjected to the kitchen
"I believe that's your place" and maybe feed the kitten
I belong to a society, where you are treated according to your shape,
A society where we all belong to the apes
Where women dare not dream of fame
You dare not hang your frame.
Dear Society, How do we live our lives?
In my early childhood, I was taught to fight for my life
Every day I see the agony in my mother's eyes,
Shaped and sharpened that I could see the Ice.
Frozen and only filled with water
I stare with nothing to utter
Dear Society, Which way to go?
