HOPE AGAIN
she sat on the cold, hard floor
away from warmth and love
the cold wind gnawed on her skin,
turning her fingers numb and blue
Her growling stomach hard to ignore,
had been the motivation of her rove
She looked within hoping to find a grin,
but got nothing, not even a tiny clue
As the light ebbed at the tunnel's end
a stranger came along to the rescue
He bent over her with a soft smile
that sparkled life and hope within,
holding her hand as he did befriend
With a meal and a shawl, she felt anew
as light flooded, drowning all the vile
then she saw a future no longer thin
