Make I tell you something about this Ibadan summit talk wey dey trend. I just dey laugh when I see people writing long grammar about opposition and 2027 for Ibadan.
My brother, na Ibadan we dey talk about. The politics here no be like Lagos or Abuja where everybody dey shout on social media. For Ibadan, the real discussion happens at Agodi Gate Gardens over suya and zobo. People no go gather for summit to plan opposition - dem go gather for Oke Are in-law's house to arrange who go benefit.
I remember during the last election cycle, how many summits we see? Plenty. But at the end of the day, na who get the garri money and who fit reach the common man for Bodija market or Oja Oba that matter pass. The Ibadan electorate no dey too move for big grammar. Dem want to see road, light, and water. If you come Ibadan talking opposition without showing us how you go fix the pothole from Challenge to Iwo Road, you are wasting your time.
The truth is that any serious opposition plan for 2027 must first pass through Ibadan local government secretariats and the Alaafin's palace successors. Our people respect elders and traditional structures. You cannot do Abuja summit and expect Ibadan people to follow you. You must come to Mapo Hall and talk to the people direct.
Personally, I tire for the way people dey use Ibadan for national politics without respecting our local dynamics. If you want my advice, let these politicians first solve the water problem at Eleyele before they talk about 2027. Until then, I remain skeptical of any summit that ends with jollof rice and no action plan for Ibadan people.
