This poem Let' study the African Child is to sensitize Africans and every discerning minds on the need to address the plights of African children as compared with the European counterparts. The African children are vulnerable as they are exposed to many outdated cultural practices like many mentioned in the poem. Such outdated cultural practices among others are female genital mutilation, early hands in marriage, trokosi that is practiced among certain tribe in Ghana where virgin young girls are subjected to defilement by local priest in seclusion under cover of performing sacred rites and many more. All these obnoxious treatment meted on the African children are examined and revealing to us so that we can have concern for the African children and bail them from the moral and cultural subjugation. We are to awake from our slumbers or insenstiveness to these plights of the African children to that of concern and care. I hope this poem will touch the minds of many and reawaken our sense for love and affection for the African children. We are to provide with appropriate moral training and learning materials for them to be liberated from ignorance or imprison of the mind. This poem is to seek for consoious efforts from every one who cares to read it and acts accordingly as these African children are our present joy and future hope. Their hope must be raise and rekindle for them to assume their rightful positions as future leaders.. Long live Africa.! Long lives Africans!! Long lives African children!!!
