Living dead

I know i shouldn't be the bearer of bad news
But sooner or later the truth is going to find its way out of the bag
I might just as well spill.

It was the night after graduation
a day set to cruise after years in school
There was nothing to lose, we made it.
So vibrant, full of life, aiming for the sky
The goal was to live rich with a wife and child in a car of course, make mama proud
Because for this life na only you know wetin your eyes see
And despite the struggle like sauce they still expect us to ketchup with life's expectations

Mama's phone rang, it was her graduate boy
Where are you ,its getting late she said
But the voice on the call obviously not her boy, with a piercing screams and tears rolling down her chicks, she plead, take me to him
A celebration turned into a nightmare.
Mama couldn't bear to see her boy fighting for his dear life and the only thing she could do was stare as his white sleeved shirt was covered in red
For days mama couldn't eat, couldn't speak, all she did was stare at the picture on the wall, her boy, the day he was born
But no one ever talked about the pain of loosing a child
It wasn't an experience she hoped she'll feel this soon.

Hustle o, so u go make your mama proud, no be every hustle dey pay sha, your hustle fit turn to puzzle
We forget say
Not all roses are red, your violet fit be black
Dem say life na turn by turn but with the happenings everywhere, you sure say ur turn go reach so?
I don't mean to scare you but the truth should be said anyways, let's face reality
Flashback to the days she struggled to pay bills, fees
The dreams he made her see, the promise to go overseas, the many things he would achieved
What's the point of living if at the end we don't get to say goodbye

I wish i could live away from the living, no cries heard when I'm leaving
Where everyday i can rest in peace not pieces of shattering hearts, hopes, dreams
No expectations, no gain, no loss
So my condolence, to the people who still alive yet dead
To the person who for the fear of failure loss the ability to win
To the person who gave up before starting
To the person who never gave life a try for fear of mockery
To the person who always say "I'll do it tomorrow "
To the guy with the thousand excuses, to you that is scared to take the bold step when life gives a stair
Please accept my deepest condolences

For the tragedy of life is not death but what we let die inside of us while we live
So make hay while it's still day
Don't be scared to fear because fear is a constant reminder of things you're capable of
Live long but make sure you live life, that it would be said "they lived well"
But until then, Rest in peace
