In the hush of the night when every soul sleeps
When the stamps of feet and cloven hooves cease
And sounds from the Smith's anvil recedes
I cede to fear engulfing my being

In awakening dreams my sleep dissolves
Leaving me aghast behind the muntin bars
Where I see today through panes from my window
Hauling loads of yesterday on broken Bones

Again in my dream, I see tomorrow
Tottering like an old buffalo
Growling and howling from the siege of today
Crying for hope in deep baritones

Soon, were my eyes greeted by drops of its rain
As I relieved today of yesterday's pain
Unbolting the door for tomorrow's gain
And ripping fear off like freckles from my face.
