Finally, Sanford is getting some more seafood options. Ocean Crab is opening right off 17-92 near the Monroe Road area. For those who don't know, that stretch has been mostly fast food and chain stuff for years. We've got the usual Publix plaza spots but nothing like a dedicated crab house.

I've been watching this building sit empty for a while now. Glad to see something finally moving in. Sanford's riverfront has all those fancy places but the rest of us need good casual seafood too. Ocean Crab is a small chain from what I hear, but the one in Lake Mary has solid reviews. People say the crab legs are seasoned well and the shrimp is fresh.

If you're local to Sanford or just passing through, this is going to be right off the highway so easy to hit after work. I'm hoping they keep the prices reasonable because we've got families out here that want to eat out without breaking the bank. No clue yet on the opening date but I'll be watching.

I'll be honest though, parking could be tight. That whole 17-92 corridor is a mess during rush hour so plan accordingly. And please don't be one of those people who complains about wait times on opening week. Give them a minute to get the kinks out.

For anyone wanting to try it, I'd say give it a month after opening to let the staff settle in. That's my rule for any new spot around here.

ugh the parking situation on 17-92 is no joke lol. i work over near the Home Depot and it's a nightmare during rush hour. but honestly i'm excited for this, we need more than just pub subs around here. my buddy went to the Lake Mary one last month said the garlic butter was legit so i'm gonna check it out.
