Early this year, the parliament of Ghana proposed the use of Ghana card as the sole document for voter's registration.

Prof. Ken Attafuah the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority made his view known to the general public encouraging Electoral Commission of Ghana to use it's data for voter's roll in the 2024 upcoming general elections.

In his points, he made it clear that, over 2.6 million people can be registered within a maximum of six (6) months. He added that, "there are officers and equipments all over the world who would see to the success of the work ahead but what is needed is the availability of funds and willingness of Ghanaians to present themselves for registration".

Within this space, there are people who have not bothered to register because they have found it as a waste of time and not necessary because their Political Masters have not permitted them to go ahead and register for their cards or go for collection. "Some politicians who were part of the "stubborn academy" visited offices of the NIA to register and have received their cards but failed to make a public notice which would enable their supporters to also do same", He added.

"The Voters Registration would be made easily processed as soon as the Electoral Commission of Ghana is satisfied and requests for data to be transmitted which would not be difficult to share such information available but EC shows no readiness, Mr. Ken Attafuah concluded".

To clear all doubts, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana made it known that, "the registration of the Ghana card was not done according to polling station basis which would enable the commission to know the number of registered voters using the polling station identification and how to go about voting in the 2024 elections but the Ghana card was not brought into existence in such order which makes it invalid for voting".
