SHANZA'S-PROPHECY
"Mother. Someday, I'd love to grow big and strong like you!"
"Then perhaps I should tell you of Shanza's prophecy,
Very soon, your joy will fade, your laughter grim, and your ululations wails. My daughter (cold hands grip the lass's shoulder. Mother wears a strong frown) when your youth has come and its peak yet farthest.
When your breasts are most stood up and your hips drip fine wine
When you attract whistles and cause loss
When all can see what was once beneath
When all flock as friends, singing lauds
Then
No longer would there be fun, nor joy, or happiness
When all of you have drifted apart
No more teasing
Just you
And your ceiling
From boredom to vexation
You'd vex and get angry
Angry and then tired
Then you'll get a hold on yourself
You'd feel others are ahead of you
And then you'd try to reach out
But you'll realise it's not as it had been
That would really pain you
They wouldn't want to tease
Or have fun as you used to
You'd get depressed
And rely on being antisocial
Or you force yourself to belong
Thereby losing a stronger hold on your choices
Talks of the future would spring up more so than frequent
You'd get scared
Except your priorities are set right
You'll cave in
If, therefore, not so; you'd learn to face your fears on your knees
Reality would become passive
And no longer be a one-time occurrence
You'll flow into the very tapestry of life
Realising you aren't the only one as you used to view life
You'll become conscious of the vast nature of existence
Accepting your fate as no more different than the one next to you, only a human with limitations and constrictions far beyond your grasp
You'll find a way to grow
At least you'd try to
You're not in-between youth and old anymore
No longer on the grey line
You've just taken your first step out of it
Into a battlefield
With no belligerent
Equipped or not
You must fight.
