People who are suffering from this infection are unable to go outside, as sunshine and dust affect their sight.

Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye disease, is indeed the inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane (the conjunctiva) that lines the eyelid and covers the eyeball.

The typical symptoms include redness, a gritty or scratchy sensation in the eye, and itching.

Additionally, many people with conjunctivitis experience a discharge that can lead to the formation of crusts on the eyelashes, especially during the night. These symptoms can be caused by various factors, including infections, allergies, or irritants.

Over 100 cases of pink eye or conjunctivitis have been recorded in Ghana from the Health Department until Wednesday, September 20.

Asking people to taking precautionary measures, the doctor recommend eye drops to the patients and advised the affectees to maintain strict practices and keep separate their regular items such as towel and toiletries from other.

Moreover, patients are directed to use prescribed eye drops and tissue for cleansing their eyes. The patients can also use cold water to temporarily soothe their eyes.

It is advisable that persons with pink eye cases are to avoid touching the face and eye, avoid touching surfaces without washing of the hand with sanitizer and also avoid scratching of the eye.
