The Ancient Town Ijaka Oke; The garri hub of Ogun state and other agricultural values.

Ijaka Oke is an ancient and historical town located in Yewa North, close to Ayetoro and Ijoun, in Ogun state. The town was founded by a great hunter known as Oke, where the town derived her name. The town has been in existence since 16 century.

According to the history, Oke, who founded Ijaka Oke, migrated from Imasayi with his people. After a due consultation, Oke and his people found the current Ijaka Oke as a befitting abode to settle. The immediate passed oba of the town was Oba Bolarinwa Adeniyi, who joined his ancestors some years ago. The next oba is to ascend the throne in February 2024.

Historical fact also established that the fore father of Yoruba, Oodua Ateworon, passed through Imasayi while on his journey to Ile-Ife, and till today, the footpath of Oodua still significant in Ijaka Oke.

To mark the significance of Oodua in Ijaka Oke, the indigenes of the ancient town celebrate Oodua Day every year.

More so, the good people of Ijaka Oke are predominantly farmers who supplied garri to the people of Ogun state and other neighbouring states. Investigation also revealed that Ijaka Oke garri is the best in the whole of South-West.

Also, some of the traditional festivals celebrated in Ijaka Oke are Egungun festival and Oro festival, among others.

Another significant thing that is worth being noted is the adequate security of the town. The town is enjoying massive security.

In addition, there is arable land good for industrial agricultural businesses as well as rivers for fishery business on a large scale.

Ijaka Oke is blessed with industriou, hardworking and law-abiding sons and daughters spread within and outside the shore of Nigeria.
