PEACE CAMPAIGN:
THE THROES OF WAR
In a war-torn land,
only soot of gunflints
perch on leaves,
not budded larvas,
.
only ash of cauterized
happiness layered
surfaces; only cinders
of incinerated tomorrow,
.
in a war ridden land, only
maggots revel on festering
flesh; only vultures feast
on moldering carcasses,
.
only haunting cries of
horror undulate in air, not
flappings of moths or
clappings of butterflies,
.
only speed of scudding
missiles hum in mid
air, and heaves of
stampeded souls,
.
only whistles of raging
bullets dashing to rip lives;
only riddlings of silent
roofs and dumb eaves,
.
only toxic dew from
carbonized cloud misting
down, choking nature,
not oxidized raindrops,
.
only virulent fumes taint
crisp air; mortal gas stifles
nature's breath; only lethal
spray stings eyes,
.
in a warring land, only
canisters dive from sky; only
wreckages of bomber crafts,
not packages of palliatives,
.
in colony of war, not only
atomic tear down, not only
economic breakdown, also
mental & physical breakdown,
.
in a land of war, it is
massacre, it is mutilation,
it is assunder, it is plunder,
it is mugging, it is brute abuse,
.
in a territory of war, it is
female assault, it is child
abuse, it is epidemic, it is
famine, it is hell on earth.
