📍Ilorin, Nigeria
If you think Ilorin shuts down by 9pm, you haven't been looking in the right places. The city has a quiet but solid nightlife scene if you know where to go.
For a chill evening with good music and drinks, head to **Talin Lounge** around **Tanke Junction**. It's not too loud, the seating is comfortable, and the small chops are top notch. I usually go on Fridays when the vibe is just right. If you want more energy, **D’Crystal Garden** on **Asa Dam Road** gets busy late -- usually after 10pm when the live band starts. It's an open space so you can breathe, and the moimoi with fish is surprisingly good there.
For the younger crowd, **Club 702** near **Unilorin gate** is packed on weekends. Expect loud afrobeat, cheap drinks, and that "everybody knows everybody" feel. It's right opposite **Fatima Shop** on the main road so you can't miss it. If you want something more upscale, **The Vue** on **Sobi Road** has a rooftop bar with a view of the city lights. It's a bit pricey but the pepper soup and zobo cocktail make it worth it.
One spot that locals love but visitors miss is **Kwara Palm Court** off **Unity Road**. It's not a club, just a relaxed outdoor bar with plastic chairs and cold beer. They have a huge screen for football matches and the suya man outside is one of the best in Ilorin. By 11pm, it's full of people just talking and laughing. That's the real Ilorin nightlife.
Pro tip: always carry cash. Many places only accept transfers during the day but at night, cash is king. And don't rely on your GPS too much -- ask the keke driver for **"Talin side"** or **"Asa Dam new road"** and they'll take you straight.
