📍Ilorin, Nigeria

Let’s be real - finding a barber that actually listens is harder than finding pothole-free roads in Ilorin. After years of trial and error (and a few tragic haircuts), I’ve narrowed down the spots that consistently deliver.

First up is **De Classique Barbing Saloon** on **Unity Road**, close to the GTBank junction. If you want a precise fade or a clean lineup, this is where the serious guys go. The barbers there take their time - no rushing you out. It’s not the cheapest, about 800 to 1,000 naira for a cut, but the attention to detail is worth it. They also do hot towel shaves, which is a nice touch on a dusty Ilorin afternoon.

For those living around **Tanke** or **Oke-Odo**, check out **Fresh Cutz** near the **Unilorin main gate**. It’s a popular spot for students because the barbers understand modern styles - low cuts, temple fades, even designs if you’re feeling bold. The shop is small but always buzzing with music and conversation. Take note: peak hours (4-6pm) mean you might wait 20 minutes, but they give good vibes while you wait.

If you’re on the **Offa Road** axis, especially around **Sango**, there’s **Supreme Barber** at the **Sango Junction**. This place has been there for years. The older barbers there are masters of the classic “African cut” - neat, sharp, and professional. No nonsense, no loud music, just good service. They charge around 500 naira, which is fair for the area. Perfect if you want a simple, reliable cut without the frills.

Over on **Kaiama Road**, close to **Al-Hikmah University**, there’s **Trendz Barber**. This one is newer but quickly gaining a following. They have air conditioning (a big plus in Ilorin heat) and offer beard trimming as part of the service. The barbers are young and up-to-date with styles. I went there last week and they fixed my edge-up perfectly. Price hovers around 700 naira.

One tip for all barbershops in Ilorin: go early in the morning, around 8 or 9am, especially on Saturdays. That’s when the barbers are fresh, the clippers are fully charged, and you avoid the afternoon rush. Also, always call ahead to check if your regular barber is on duty - nothing worse than getting there to see a new face.

So whether you’re a student near Tanke, a professional on Unity Road, or chilling around Sango, there’s a solid barber waiting for you. Just don’t go expecting a miracle if you show up at 5pm on a Saturday.
