📍Oyo, Nigeria

If you're craving fresh seafood in Oyo, you don't have to go all the way to Ibadan or Lagos. I've been a loyal customer at a few spots around town, and let me tell you - some of them rival the coastal joints. First up is **Fish Point** on the New Ife Road, just after the Olorunsogo junction heading towards the Oyo-Ibadan expressway. They have a massive tank of live catfish and tilapia, and you can order your fish grilled, fried, or in a spicy pepper sauce. I always go for the grilled pepper fish with extra plantain - they char it perfectly, and the smoky flavor is unbeatable. The place is busy on weekends, but they have decent parking behind the building.

Next, there's **Seafood Palace** tucked inside Oje Market area, right near the old Oyo Divisional Police Station. It's a small joint but the freshness hits you as soon as you walk in. They specialize in boiled crabs and prawns with a spicy yam porridge. The owner, Mama Bose, sources her stock directly from the Eleyele River and Ibadan lagoon, so the crabs are always sweet and meaty. Prices are fair too - a full plate of crab with yam porridge costs around 1,500 naira. My advice: go early, because by 1pm, the crabs are usually sold out.

For a more upscale atmosphere, try **Blue Lagoon Restaurant** on the Old Oyo Road, very close to the Oyo State Primary School. It's a bit hidden behind a filling station, but worth the find. They serve grilled lobster, fish fillet, and even seafood jollof rice with chunks of crayfish. The fish there is never dry - always flaky and well-seasoned. Their signature dish is the "Lobster Special" served with sautéed vegetables and boiled yam at 3,800 naira. It's a good spot for a date or small celebration.

Lastly, don't overlook **Sare & Eat** on the Sabo Road, directly across from the Oyo Polytechnic. Students swear by their fried fish and chips, but the real gem is their peppered snails and periwinkle sauce served with pounded yam. The snails are sourced locally and cooked in a rich, dark sauce that's slightly sweet from fresh tomatoes. It's roadside but clean, and they have plastic chairs under a canopy. Busy evenings start around 5pm.

So whether you are in Oje, New Ife Road, or Sabo, good seafood in Oyo is never far. Just ask for the chef's special and trust the locals.
