Today, International Women’s Day, I salute the hard work and dedication of Nigerian women working tirelessly and achieving results in different fields of endeavour.
We celebrate you all, from those sacrificing daily in the homes and markets and farms, to those breaking limits in education, sports, medicine, arts, entertainment, and even in politics, where women are still largely under-represented.
I am proud to have worked and associated with some of Nigeria’s brightest women in my cabinet, across the government, and in the international community; meritorious partners in the progress being witnessed on the political, economic and social fronts.
Even in the face of many obstacles, and in a society still largely dominated by men, women everywhere in Nigeria continue to demonstrate that through hardwork, dedication and honesty, greatness can be achieved.
I pledge, once again, the commitment of the Federal Government to promoting gender equality and respect for the rights of women. We will continue to work conscientiously to remove all barriers that prevent Nigerian women from fully attaining and realizing their universal rights.
Our goal is a country in which women and girls have access to equal opportunities, can live their dreams to the fullest, and enjoy the freedom to contribute immensely to the development and progress of Nigeria.
Happy International Women’s Day 2023!
