DEFYING THE COMMANDS OF HUMILITY

Humility shouldn't be a command,
Niceness shouldn't bind the observer.
"Please" shouldn't transform into "must,"
Magic words sometimes lose their enchantment.

Rudeness cloaked with "sorry,"
Apologies losing their meaning in contradiction.
Voice rising as acceptance wavers,
Yet, emotions aren't scripted for others.

There's no compulsion to weep when you're sorrowful,
No obligation to share joy.
Feelings won't stifle to match your volume,
Shed the expectation of being the protagonist.
