Chapter 4
SLEEP
Abigail walks out of the dressing room in a blue strapless gown, swaying around for her mom.
Mother clapped her hands. " You look amazing!"
" Thank you Mom."
" Alright I am going to pay for that, we're already late for the dinner tonight." Mother left her.
Abigail stares at herself in the mirror. She had to admit, she is beautiful. But then her gaze remained on locked on the mirror, it was like she was staring right at a stranger. She drew closer to the transparent structure, feeling it.
" Something is not right," she whispered to herself.
But her mom now was already back.
" Abby are you okay, we need to go now," she cut the silence.
Abigail glanced at her mother and it was like her mind snapped back from a trance.
" Right, just give me a few minutes to change," she responds and then returned back into the dressing room.
******
The Benson family was hosting a dinner party at their apartment. A lot of guests were present, both from the hospital where her Mom works from. And Mark's own factory workers, including Abigail's friends. Speaking of her, she was currently in her room with them {4}chatting.
There was a knock on the door.
" Come in."
Abby's Mom walks in. " Hi girls, you wouldn't mind giving me and my daughter a moment."
They nod leaving the room.
" Mom what's up that can't wait until after the party?" She asked.
Her mother joined her on the bed where she was sitting.
" Well I needed to talk to you... You see, your brother and I have been discussing. And we think it's time you travel abroad to further your medical career," she said.
" What?! But I want to stay here and do it, just like I planned. We talked about it!" Abigail protested raising her voice.
It has been her dream to become a doctor just like her mom, side by side working with her.
" Yes, but recently things have changed. Like for instance, you've been acting strange since yesterday and it is not the first time this is occurring. We just think a change of environment will be good for you okay."
Abigail stood up surprised at what her mother was saying right now.
" I am fine Mom! I don't need to go anywhere."
" It's for your own good. I need to go, I have a guests to go say hi too. I love you my beautiful baby" she hugged her before taking her leave.
Abigail was still not comfortable with her mother's decision. Why would she suddenly change her mind? Her heart became burdened, she felt the need to just close her eyes. But she ignored that feeling and left her room, still in her gown.
She needed a drink.
She grabbed a glass from an incoming waiter, it was red wine. Immediately she drank a little, but it was like her body rejected it. She spat everything out in front of an older man ruining her dress in the process.
" Are you kidding me!" He yelled out.
" Sorry." She apologized and ran for the door with everyone watching and her mother calling out to her but she ignored.
She stood in the garden gazing at the moonlight.
" What is happening to me..." She trailed off.
The burden came again, heavy in her heart. But this time she listened and close her eyes.
In an instant, her memories came flooding back in like a wave of flowing waters. She felt everything all at once, and then eyes opened. Her appearance had changed. Her hair was now tied into a ponytail, her gown replaced by a black all buttoned cassock. She was looking like a priest.
" I remember now." She finally spoke.
She left the house and ran all the way to the church. Somehow she knew he would be there at this hour. She opened the door walking in. James saw her from afar on the alter.
" It's you... Is it weird that I know you from somewhere." He approached her.
" No it's not. I was lead here to see you, but I think I know why. We need to talk pastor Morgan." She says...
