Just saw that News-Journal list of 5 things to do this weekend around Daytona and Palm Coast. Honestly, half of those spots are tourist traps or just meh for us locals. If you're looking to actually enjoy your weekend without fighting crowds and overpriced parking, here's the real deal:

Skip the boardwalk if you can. Instead, head down to **Ponce Inlet** early Saturday morning. Grab coffee at **Tiki House** off South Atlantic and walk the jetty. Watch the sunrise. It's free, quiet, and you'll actually see dolphins jumping right by the rocks. Way better than fighting for a towel at the main beach.

If you're craving seafood, don't fall for the tourist joints on A1A. Hit **Our Deck Down Under** on the Halifax River. Their smoked fish dip is killer and the dock views are unbeatable. Or drive over the bridge to **The Garlic** in New Smyrna Beach for their garlic knots. Both spots won't wreck your wallet.

For the late-night crew: **Molly Brown's** on Seabreeze. No frills, cold beer, and the locals there actually talk to strangers. If you want live music without the cover charge, check **The Bank** & **Blues** on Ridgewood. They've got bands that actually play stuff we want to hear.

And for the love of god, if you're going to the Speedway area this weekend, pack patience. Construction on International Speedway Blvd is worse than ever. Use the back roads around **Bellemeade Drive** to get around the traffic. You'll thank me later.
