Am I meant to be alone?

Am I meant to be alone
Like the lone pair of lost socks

Am I truly alone?
I can feel the cold hands of sadness
The rough touch of loneliness
The rising tempo of anxiety
From the talking drum of despair
My tears have formed a pool of pain
I'm submerged within
But I yearn for escape
Though doubtful of success
For I am alone
In my world of woe

And then a glimpse of dark light appears
Relief washes over me
For I have found a way
And like lightning,
It fades away
Now alone once more
