SALUTE TO MY MAJOR
The battle line is drawn
Initiators aren’t fighters with guns
Their weapons lie in their pockets
Their artilleries in briefcases
And banks their armory
Not just the soldiers fighting now
Suppliers of arms and ammunitions vow
Destroying the peace of a nation
Young and intending to yield
If only money could rule the world
How bad would it have ruled?
Now, they have lived to see
How they have messed up land and sea
Our fatherland has been soiled and sold to horror,
Pain fear, mysteries and terror
Slave traders tore hearts apart
Power drunken leaders playing their part
Terrorizing and destabilizing citizens
Collaborating with greedy homebred demons
Reinforced by foreign allies
Causing more havoc to the horizon
A place we call home
The story of a nation
Where there was attraction
Basically within it lithosphere
Stirring up the greed in the wicked
The tussle for power
Who rules the goldmines?
Not considering the ants and rodents that matter too
Letting their blood flow in pools
Shattered hopes of many
Forest and fauna now battlefields
Hungry battalions in drones
Prisoners of war in their fatherland
War ended long ago
Unknown soldiers lie low
War heroes unable to abandon their trenches
That now accommodates their burdens
Of fear, guilt, pain and regrets
Victims of war have lots to say
Heroes of war have little pay
Who says they deserve commendation?
Without a national recommendation
Honors are titles reserved for patriots
Who are the patriots?
Widows, orphans, languishing in pain
Waiting to be compensated in vain
Salute to true patriotism
Salute to courage
To commitment and to acceptance
I celebrate my hero
Father and mentor
As I give this toast to my one and only host
I drink to victory
Salute to my major
