I wrote this poem years again for my dad on his birthday... Thought I should share with you all.

The Father in Me

It is commonly said, like father like son
I use to think my mother was the moon
And my father the bright burning sun
For the light of their love helped me bloom
Now that I am a man, I yearn for my moon
And one that will look to me as the sun
For in my father I see strength in will
And character, honesty and tenacity,
A man blessed with humour and great skill
Respect for others, love and humility
I am a man yet still my father's son
And through me he will always live on
