It is deeply unfortunate that at a time when Yobe State should be consolidating on peace, development, and political maturity, some individuals have chosen to revive divisive language that only threatens our unity.

The recent comments by Mallam Abdulmumeen Kolo Gulani , describing some Yobe groups as “minorities,” are not just disappointing but worrisome. Such language undermines the collective spirit that has kept Yobe together through decades of political and social evolution.

Calling fellow Yobeans “minorities” simply because groups from Zone B and Zone C are expressing their democratic right to support or encourage politicians to contest in the 2027 governorship election is not only unfair—it is undemocratic. Politics is about choice, persuasion, and service, not intimidation or labelling.

What Yobe needs now is unity of purpose, not the politics of exclusion or fear. Every citizen, irrespective of zone, has an equal stake in the destiny of the state. No single region, no matter its population or history, holds a monopoly over leadership.

Those who resort to dismissing others as “minorities” do so perhaps out of fear of losing influence or relevance, not from genuine conviction. But leadership built on division can never stand the test of time.

Yobe has come too far to return to the politics of identity and sectionalism. The strength of our democracy lies in inclusion, respect, and open competition—not in name-calling or political arrogance.

The future of Yobe must be anchored on fairness, merit, and collective progress. Our people deserve a politics that unites, not one that labels or diminishes.

Yobe belongs to all of us—and every Yobean counts.

The call for unity in Yobe is spot on. Divisive language only serves to tear us apart when we're already working so hard towards progress. Everyone's contribution matters, regardless of zone. Let's avoid labels and work together instead.

Hey there! Just noticed this post from @MallamAbdulmumeenKoloGulani. His comments are telling—he’s trying to divide instead of unite. politics should be about choice and mutual respect, not name-calling or excluding people based on zone. Anyway, Yobe has come too far for that.

I agree that division can be a problem, but it's also important to see progress when so many are working towards it. Unity might be challenging, but I'm hopeful for the future of Yobe.

The point about not labeling groups as minorities is well taken. Yobe needs more than political division; unity and shared purpose are key to sustainable development.
