In a decisive move that aligns with Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s landmark commitment to build one modern model school in each of Yobe’s 178 wards, the Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has appointed Amina Daffa as the new Senior Special Assistant on Girl and Child Education.

The appointment, which has been widely welcomed by education stakeholders, signals Muktari’s renewed determination to confront the persistent challenge of out-of-school children in Potiskum, particularly among young girls.

According to the chairman, the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the bridge between the community and the education sector, ensuring that every child, especially the girl-child, gains access to quality learning opportunities.

Hon. Salisu Muktari noted that as Governor Buni accelerates the rollout of model schools across all 178 wards, local councils must complement the vision with community-focused initiatives that address cultural barriers, enrollment gaps, and parental engagement.

“Our commitment is clear and aligned with His Excellency Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s education transformation agenda; the appointment of Amina Daffa is a deliberate step to support the governor’s 178-ward model school drive and ensure that no child in Potiskum is left behind,” Muktari stated.

He described Amina Daffa as a dedicated advocate for children’s education, equipped with the capacity to mobilize households, engage mothers, and provide tailored guidance to families struggling with schooling decisions.

Her role, Muktari explained, is to uphold educational standards, support parents, and ensure young girls receive the necessary encouragement, mentorship, and access needed to remain in school.

The synergy between state-level infrastructure expansion and grassroots community engagement could significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children, especially in urban and densely populated LGAs like Potiskum.

Hon. Salisu Muktari reaffirmed the council’s readiness to roll out complementary sensitization campaigns, support school transitions, and strengthen partnerships with traditional leaders, community groups, and civil society.

He urged residents to rally behind the governor’s education reforms, emphasizing that the model school project represents “a generational investment that will redefine Yobe’s human capital future.”
