Development, Not Debate: Hon. Salisu Muktari Revives Abandoned Facilities, Aligns Potiskum with Buni’s Reform Agenda

A quiet transformation is unfolding in Potiskum, where long-abandoned government assets are returning to full use under Hon. Salisu Muktari, Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA. Rather than trading words with critics, his administration has chosen results as its response—restoring public facilities that were once written off as lost.

The new administration has renovated the LGA Government Lodge, giving officials a modern and functional environment for operations. The old, decaying LGA Secretariat has also been rehabilitated and reopened, restoring administrative efficiency.

Also the long-neglected veterinary facility, once deserted, is now back to serving livestock owners, while Yobe Line Motors—a facility many believed would never operate again—has been fully repaired.

Residents say the difference is visible. “People complained about abandonment for years,” a staff member said. “Now those same buildings are active again. That is leadership.”

Hon. Salisu Muktari’s approach reflects Gov. Mai Mala Buni’s broader governance philosophy: fix neglected projects, upgrade infrastructure, and deliver services the public can see. In the same direction the state has taken—reviving schools, hospitals, and major public institutions—Potiskum is restoring value to assets previously abandoned.

Beyond the restorations completed, the chairman is pursuing fresh development support from both state and federal agencies. Formal engagements and proposals are underway to secure new investments in roads, community services, and public facilities, ensuring Potiskum remains part of ongoing development across Yobe State.

What was once an opposition talking point—abandoned structures—is becoming a story of recovery and progress. Completed work has replaced political noise with visible results.

In Potiskum, critics can argue. The administration is building.
