*The Ijaw languages are a group of languages spoken by the Ijaw people in southern Nigeria. The most widely spoken Ijaw language is Izon (also known as Ijo), which is spoken by a majority of the Ijaw people.
Ijaw languages belong to the Niger-Congo language family, but they form a distinct branch within it. There are many dialects of Ijaw languages, some of which are mutually intelligible, while others are not.Unlike many other Niger-Congo languages, Ijaw languages do not have a noun class system.
