When you speak of class and style in colonial era architecture in Nigeria, the Anglican Cathedral at Marina stands tall for a pose.
Established in 1869, the cathedral celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2017. With the foundation stone laid in 1925 by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII), the magnificent edifice was completed in 1946.
One of the notable events in this ancient building is the marriage of Yakubu Gowon, the then President of Nigeria in 1969, to Miss Victoria Zakari.
In and out, night or day, the Cathedral stands out among other well constructed skyscrapers in the the heart of Marina.
