📍Maiduguri, Nigeria

It's heavy waking up to news like this again. For those of us living in Maiduguri, this isn't a headline from somewhere far. That article about the bombings bringing a "new threat" - honestly, it feels like an old, familiar pain that just changes its shape. The report mentions the airport road area, and that's a route many of us use daily to get to the market or visit family in Jiddari. The fear isn't new, but the way it's happening is.

What the article doesn't capture is the quiet resilience of our people. Just yesterday, I saw women still selling groundnut cakes near the Custom Area checkpoint, even with the increased military presence. We've learned to read the land. If the boys at the Abbaganaram roundabout vegetable market suddenly pack up early, you know to head home. The real "new threat" they talk about feels like the shift from open battles to these soft target attacks - marketplaces, bus stops, places where we are just trying to live.

For anyone outside Maiduguri reading this, please don't let the fear stop you from supporting local businesses here. My advice to neighbors and friends: stick to routes you know. Avoid lingering around the Monday Market or the Gamboru/Limanti area after Maghrib prayers unless you have to. Tell your family your route. The security situation remains fluid, but we are not victims; we are survivors who know the safest stalls at the Post Office area and which tuk-tuk drivers to trust.

We are stronger than this, but we are also tired. Stay safe, stay alert, and keep checking on your elders. #Neighbors #Maiduguri #Maiduguri #LocalGuide #StaySafe #Borno #Resilience #NigeriaSecurity #HomeFront #HelloNircle #booksonnircle #nircleaffilates #updateyournircle #Food #Entertainment

man this hit hard. my cousin lives near the airport road and every single time i hear news like this my stomach drops before i even get to call her. it's the waiting that gets you, you know? the not knowing if your people are okay. that part about the women still selling groundnut cakes though... that's the real Maiduguri right there. we keep showing up. sending love from Lagos, praying for all of you
