That's Somebody's Baby

We notice him everyday,
The same spot, by the roadside.

Who is he?

To some, he is a thug
Waiting to be bought with 1k
To wreck havoc.

To others, he is just a senseless drug addict
Who will do anything to get N50 top up.

To some, he is just a thief waiting to steal from you because of his insatiable need for drugs

To another group, he is just a useless beggar who cannot take care of himself.

I look at him and I see a boy
A three year old boy
Telling his mom he wants to be doctor when he grows up
He wants to be a soldier,
A pilot so he can ride a plane and take his mom round the world
Oh no, he will be Jackie Chan, maybe Okocha, or Jet Li.
He wants to be awesome like P-Square so he will be a musician.
Every year the career changes
But being a drug addict wasn't part of the plan.

I don't know who to blame for what he is now,
But I know I want to play my part in what he will become tomorrow.
That little boy who lived his dreams.

Why?
Because that's somebody's baby
And he might as well be mine.
