Finally someone put together a legit list of the best empanadas in Miami. The Infatuation article is actually spot on for once. I've been eating my way through this city for years and can confirm a few of those spots are serious business.

If you haven't been to Sarussi's in Hialeah yet, you are missing out. That little spot on Palm Avenue has been around forever and their beef empanadas with the spicy green sauce are legendary. The crust is perfectly flaky, not too greasy, and the filling actually has flavor instead of just being salty meat paste. Go early because they sell out fast.

For the downtown crowd, El Carajo off SW 8th Street is a hidden gem that looks like a gas station from the outside but serves some of the best Argentine empanadas in the city. Their ham and cheese is simple but perfect, and they have this spicy chicken that will wake you up.

I do wish the list included more neighborhood spots though. There's a little place on Calle Ocho called La Viña that nobody talks about but their spinach and cheese empanadas are incredible. No frills, just a family running the place since the 90s.

One warning - stay away from the tourist traps on Ocean Drive that claim to have "authentic" empanadas. They charge $8 for frozen ones that taste like cardboard.

What's your go-to empanada spot in Miami? I need to expand my list.
