📍Warri, Nigeria
I dey shake for this one o. Just dey my area for Warri yesterday, I hear say dem don start to carry protest go the oil facilities. Na so things dey hot for here now. The tension for Warri don reach another level. As we know, Warri na the heartbeat of the Niger Delta, and anytime the protest touch oil, na serious matter.
The youth for our community, especially for places like Ekpan and Ugbuwangue, don dey gather for the road since morning. Some dey block the express, and others dey carry placard for the Chevron gate. I see for myself for Jakpa road, the crowd dey thick. But the thing wey dey worry me be say, when protest reach the oil facilities, security go come out well well. E no be like the type for the main town where people just dey shout.
My bros wey dey work for one flow station near Forcados, hint me say the workers don dey lock down some areas. Management don warn dem say make dem no come outside. The thing wey get me be say, some of these protests dey turn ugly if the youth no get clear direction. I remember for 2020 when #EndSARS happen, how Warri youth come block NNPC depot for Ekpan, and the tension nearly cause accident for the road. Nobody want that kind wahala again.
If you be Warri person wey read this, my advice na stay clear from areas like Osubi, Effurun roundabout, and those oil zones if you no get urgent business. Even the main market for Warri don dey quiet because people fear say riot go break out. The police and army don begin patrol for the high traffic spots. Naija no be for risk-taking for this kind time.
I say make we keep eyes open. The protest get point - better treatment and more jobs for our youths - but the way we carry am matter. Warri people sabi how to survive. Make we just wise pass. Stay safe, warri people.
