So, The Guardian ran that piece on why Adekanmbi is the best pick for governor. I saw it floating around WhatsApp groups this morning. A lot of people in Oyo town are chatting about it, especially around the Akesan market area.

Personally, I think this kind of national media attention is big for a local candidate. It's one thing to have posters on the walls near Oyo Township Stadium, but another to get this level of write-up. I’ve heard his name popping up in conversations at the Ogbomoso road junction garages. Some drivers I know say he’s the only one who actually came down to inspect the potholes on that stretch near Odo-Oba. Not just send a representative, but came himself.

That said, we need to look past the newspaper praise. People here remember promises made in 2019. I want to see his specific plan for the Oyo-Iseyin road, which has been a nightmare for traders going to the farm settlements. Also, what about the stagnant drainage along Awe Road? A good article is nice, but I need to know what he will actually do for the local farmers in Aawe and the artisans in Ilora.

Still, he has a better record than some of the others. No scandals, not a recycled face. For a change, we might actually be looking at someone who won't just sleep in Ibadan and forget the rest of Oyo State exists. Let's see if the follow-up rallies match the hype.

Bruh you hit the nail about the Iseyin road. My cousin lost goods twice last year going to sell at the market because the truck got stuck in that mud near the farm settlement. It's not even funny anymore. This Adekanmbi guy seems different I'll give him that but let's see who's really going to fix the drainage before the rains come back. Omoluabi I swear every year we just pray the water doesn't enter our shops.
