IN THE SHADOWS OF HISTORY
Born African, forever one
Wanna know where I'm from
Better watch my rhythm and flow
Black is beauty, both soul and body

Yeah slavery rid us of our humanity
Years of pain, suffering and torture
Broken bones, our past was a little bit filthy
Persevered through it all, unshakeable was our culture

Big up to our black Queens
Not forgetting the Kings
Melanin skin
Rooted deep within

Our pride, you may kiss the bride
Down on one knee, I'll ask her to be mine
Found my Miss, the golden lady
Hope, she don't betray me

Always and forever, We'll take on this journey together...
